Smashing DOUBLE WIN performances @ last night's Bedford's Cage tournament from Harchi 'Boy' who's Mungkorn Dam opponent couldn't come out for the 3rd round and Jamie who knocked down his Siam Eagles opponent in the 1st round and got an eventual Unanimous Win...Thanks to Ashley Marks, Andy Lopez & Shaila for corner help and all those who came to support...Nicky, Indy and Johnny all gained invaluable experience at the LMTA Interclub against opponents from LMTA, Red Dragons & KO...

Here is a brief report from our dearest Amardeep (Kru Dips) living momentarily for over a year now working as an English Teacher in the city of Concepcion Chile, this is first hand descriptions each on separate days from last week & earthquake aftermath there:

'Still waiting on the essentials, you know water, gas, electricity...air!!!! Thank you once again everyone for your thoughts it means a great deal to me...I've been well and have been able to send the odd update here and there so not all doom and gloom. But please have in your thoughts the people of Chile still missing ...and unable to contact their families. Join me in sending a prayer for them'.

'Another earthquake - 7.2, this time in the north of Chile about 95 miles away from the capital. Aftershocks felt here in Concepcion. Can't take a leak in peace in this place!'

'Two strong aftershocks were just felt which rattled the building to its core. This is getting really, really annoying now. If someone had walked in the room and seen me on the bed, it would've been like a scene from The Exorcist...bed shook violently...'

I have been able to keep in touch he seems in good spirits when I spoke to him on Skype, some electricity has been restored. There have been over 500 deaths and many more missing and injured. In fact Dips told me he and friends were in a bar and easily could have but luckily didnt go to a club just 5 mins away where many died. He is on constant vigilant guard watch day and night against criminals, looters and thieves...some sense of security? - his muaythai trained spirit mind and body keeping him ready strong & focused!



Until he returns back to us our prayers go out to him and the affected population...

Great opportunity for RukThai students across London to meet!! We've got a private function room, as long as enough people are up for it. We went here last time we had a meal and paid �9.90 for a set menu. You get 3 different dishes to share between 3 of you, so you get to try a bit of everything, or you can order your own dishes if you like. Last time we literally couldn't finish everything they brought us. There is a veggie option available.

After the meal we'll probably head out to a bar in the Holborn or Covent Garden area. If people are interested can they e-mail thaiboxingucl@hotmail.co.uk asap so we can get an idea of numbers. Situated within the walls of a buddhist temple in old Krung Thep (city of angels) is reputable Muay Thai camp, Sangmorakot (formerly Nakorntong Parkview).
Winner of 2004 most outstanding gym in the country, and a stable of champions who regular at Lumpini, Ratchadamnoen, TV7 and Omnoi stadiums.
Champion fighters include Phech Nam Eg - Current Lumpinee Champion, Pinsiam - Bantamweight Lumpinee champion and 2004 most outstanding fighter, Visanlek, super-flyweight Lumpini Champion and Palungnum (A.K.A Kaodan) flyweight champion of TV7 stadium. Also several other chapmions and WBC Boxing Champions. The owner, highly respected Jar Tui, is one of Lumpinis top promoters.
The camp emphasizes correct technique and is a great place to strengthen your clinch and perfect your knees. Trainers are experienced, with some having hundreds of fights and being former champions themselves. The camp is close to Ratchadamnoen Stadium...

Shock obesity statistics revealed

Nine out of ten adults will be overweight or obese by 2050

Nine out of 10 British adults and two-thirds of children will be overweight or obese by the middle of this century unless eating and exercise habits change, Health Secretary Alan Johnson has warned.

Predictions from a Government agency suggest that the cost to the UK of the obesity epidemic will treble to �50 billion a year by 2050 unless urgent action is taken.

The Health Secretary highlighted the shock statistics ahead of Tuesday's launch of a �400 million Change4Life public health campaign to encourage families to eat better, eat less and exercise more.

Mr Johnson told the News of the World: "It's the curse of modern life - we eat too much and don't take enough exercise to burn off the calories.

"That's why so many people are overweight. If this trend continues, by 2050, nine out of 10 adults and two-thirds of all children will be overweight or obese.

"That's why we are taking action now. Change4Life is the beginning of the biggest ever grassroots movement to support families to eat better and be more active."

The Government's science think tank Foresight predicted in a report published last year that, on current trends, by 2050 60% of males and 50% of females will be obese.

The report also claimed that by that date, 90% of adults would be overweight or obese, placing enormous strain on the NHS because of weight-related conditions like diabetes, stroke and heart disease.
