What a journey it has been! The original Camp to first introduce, teach & promote Authentic Traditional MuayThai and Krabi Krabong in England's South, London and Home Counties. I am honoured and proud to have brought MuayThai into the area from humble beginnings in the 80's, completely unknown in West London, to now. It has affected so many of my students lives in a positive and enduring way. Thus, this site is dedicated to all the Camp's Instructors, Students and Members, ensuring successful continuation and growth on the right path & in the true way.

A WORD FROM ARJARN:
Training means spirit and mind first behind the physical body.
Let go of negative emotions and doings eg hatred, jealousy, frustration, bitterness, anger, lies, grudges, pettiness, blaming, revenge. Don't burden yourself with these and carry them around bad energy is created which spirals, effects and destroys. Be a Warrior, not a Worrier. Look to your own failings first before finding faults in others
- 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone'!

Tolerance, calmness and patience are virtues not weaknesses.
Think speak do positive...remember the karmic cycle of what
goes around comes around - action & reaction, cause & effect.
We are directly responsible for our lives and actions - enhance and strive for excellence, help others, don't forget and show respect to those who have helped, guided and given your roots, always...

I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation for the continuing support of and opportunities to work with and train under GrandMaster Woody ( International Technical Director World MuayThai Federation, President World Muay Boran Federation, International Commissioner & Registrar  - Kru MuayThai Association, Vice President - Association Institute of Thai Martial Arts & highest ranked outside of Thailand), GrandMaster Krin (Chairman - Thai Culture Forum UK, I.T.A.C President, Thai Community Leader), GrandMaster Vichit Cheechurn (highest ranked Krabi Krabong teacher, Dept. of Physical Education - Thailand) also GrandMaster Phosowat (Tradional MuayThai Authority Muay Boran, Developer of Muay Thai copyright, training manuals and videos), Master Ronnie Green (5 times World Champion) and Master Sagat Petchyindee (Fighting Legend) - all unique, special and close to me with their humility, integrity, wisdom and knowledge.

SOME THINGS ARE TRULY WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

In this rapidly changing world of ours, with many new scientific wonders and breakthroughs occurring almost daily, the effects of which on society can be seen as both good and bad, the speed of change has left many people alienated and confused as traditional trades and jobs are changed or made obsolete. Television technology has made rapid progress over the last few years, but it now seems that these new developments have been at the cost of moral values as more programmes and films made, contain graphic scenes of gratuitous violence and pornography.

The effects of watching this on the young and gullible should not be underestimated, even though program producers may say it has no effect. One does not have to go far to see children mimicking scenes from films they have just seen, and in fact there are more reports of 'copy cat' violence & murders.

Many people are now beginning to realise that this is wrong and long for a return of the 'old values' and days gone by! It is these very same values which RukThai Camp has as one of its corner stones & promotes them in many clubs worldwide besides the actual Martial Art techniques.

Without them there cannot be a balanced development in any students' progress through all the different levels of Muay Thai. Aggression has its place in the Martial Arts, but this should only be controlled aggression, and one should constantly aim to improve oneself through practice, hard work & discipline, combined with humility and respect.

'TRUE PROGRESS CAN THEN BE MADE'.........

MASTER DANNY & RUKTHAI CAMP

Wat Yarn Head Abbot Blessing Mastership Thailand Feb 2006

Whilst a child Master Danny trained and competed in Judo at schools level and at 12 years old locally in Shotokan Karate and participated in London Youth Games -   Crystal  Palace & semi-contact tournaments. In that time and with a disqualification in a bout for knocking down an opponent with a body punch, an art more full contact was sought.

In 1985 and at the same time training as a fighter in Amateur Boxing under the guidance of Peter Kent at Lonsdale Gym Master Danny gained Thai Boxing experience there initially as well with Bill Judd of KO Gym. The early martial arts passion and natural boxing ability seemed to fuse together perfectly in Thai Boxing, hence its attraction.  From 1987 he then continued Thai Boxing training to fight at a novice and c class level. With the desire to carry on practicing and improving whilst studying he began Instruction at the University in Preston with a few enthusiastic students soon to turn it into the most successful martial arts society at the University with many student members. Completing his degree Master Danny continued teaching small groups and individuals (especially Trevor McCook, Dips Dhillon, Jay Dhillon) from 1988 to thereafter forming a club at West Middlesex Hospital Social Club in 1989.

Having to move because of housing development, Seconds Out Boxing Cub at Ealing Northern Leisure Centre, Sudbury Hill was the next club gym. Although the club was becoming popular, Master Danny felt there was much more to learn about authentic traditional Thai Martial Arts to be able in turn to pass it on to existing and future  students.

Previously known as Dan's KO Gym,  RukThai Camp was established by Master Danny & was blessed and given its name after personal tuition and attaining Official Kru Teacher Qualification by GrandMaster Woody and the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Education and Dept. of Physical Education Bodies in 1994.

RukThai has at least three meanings first is 'Ruk' pronounced 'Rook' meaning going 'Forward' or 'Advance', second pronounced 'Ruck' is a passion and love for the Thai culture and what it embraces, which as part of their heritage, includes MuayThai - and thirdly 'Mak Ruk' is 'Thai Chess' & particularly the 'Check' move, thinking with strategy attacking, defending, countering in Thai Chess which MuayThai fighting, just like chess, is exactly that at a high level, a real mind game!

Master Danny has been teaching Muay Thai in and around West London for over 20 years and is appointed by the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education Dept. of Physical Education and as the International Director of Thailand's Institute of Thai Arts & Culture (I.T.A.C) whose President is Grand Master Kriangsak (Krin) Grand Master Woody's brother.

He is also registered on the Association Institute of Thai Martial Arts (AITMA) & Kru MuayThai Association Official International Register of Trainers for Muay Thai to be a safe and enjoyable martial art/sport for all.

He attained the coveted Official Kru Teacher Qualification by GrandMaster Woody and the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Education and Dept. of Physical Education Bodies in 1994, Kru Yai (Senior) in 1997 and promoted to Arjarn (Master) by GrandMaster Krin on DEC 4th 2005 and GrandMaster Phosowat Thailand FEB 11-17th 2006 (photo below).

Our Club's Mission Statement is to promote & teach anyone teachable to the highest possible standards all forms of Authentic MuayThai  (Silapa MuayThai, Muay Boran), Modern (Ring Sport) Thai Boxing, Western Boxing and Krabi Krabong (traditional Thai weapons) in conjunction with its code of conduct, ethics, respect and values ensuring successful continuation and growth in the true way. Utilising training in martial arts to help develop character and humility at the same time stimulating & building an individuals mind, body and spirit so as to lead a more positive, fulfilling and productive life benefiting oneself and society as a whole .'

RUKTHAI CAMP HISTORY

DEMONSTRATIONS & ACTIVITIES

Master Danny with GMaster Woody after Traditional MuayThai

Muay Boran Demonstration -Battersea Thai Food Festival 1995

So much has happened since the historical and I may add memorable 1st Official Amateur World Championships in 1995 at the National Stadium in Bangkok , which also houses our Thailand Headquarters and training Camp NIMIBUT (where GM Woody is now in charge of living in Thailand). We returned with four silver medals and three bronze, England being second only to Thailand in the medals table out of 23 countries! Our objectives and goals were very clear.

We set about organising in ways which would inform and ‘educate' the way forward for Muay Thai as safe and enjoyable martial art/sport for all. This has to be under the rules, guidelines and support of The Royal Government of Thailand, Dept. of Physical Education, Ministry of Education, Thai Tourism Authority, Office of National Culture Commission - Thailand, Olympic Committee of Thailand.

We formed a skilled RukThai Camp demonstration team in 1994 to reach out and show the public SILAPA Traditional Muay Thai , Muay Boran, Sport/Ring Muay Thai as the authentic Art, who we are and what we represent. We continually perform at events around the country and Thailand , main events including:

THAI FOOD FESTIVAL DEMONSTRATION TEAM JULY 06 - left to right - Kru Ash, Asst. Kru Nikki, Yatti, Junior Coach Shaila, Master Danny, Kru Sav and Kru Dips

We regularly hold high profile seminars with GrandMaster Woody (first to plant the seeds of the Art in this country and Europe along with Master Toddy about thirty five years ago) GMaster Krin, MRonnie Green and leading exponents from many countries to promote and enhance the authentic traditions of Muay Thai and Krabi-Krabong.

Such a series proved very successful and one of them coincided with the visitation to England by a Thailand Government delegation including the Deputy Minister of Education, ex Deputy Prime Minister (ex Senator) and Officers of the Office of the National Culture Commission and Dept. of Physical Education.

The RukThai Camp ( South England ) Thai Martial Arts Centre of Excellence , arranged demonstrations and played host for the delegation whose purpose of the visit was to see how their Art is practiced and promoted in main camps in the West to the highest standards as laid down by the Governing Body.

Needless to say they were delighted with what they saw. After we received presentations from the Ministers, the delegation were treated to a banquet held in their honour at the Thai Embassy in London . They then travelled to the then (International) Thai Martial Arts Centre of Excellence in Manchester , which housed the International Office by appointment of the Royal Thailand Government.
